I found out about the sad news of Betty’s passing in my email connected to the Horlick69.com website. I first met Betty when we both went to McKinley Middle School (Junior High as they called it), and then went on to Horlick High School. Back then it was a little difficult doing that because most of our McKinley friends went on to Park High. Betty had no problem making friends because she was so much fun to be around and had an infectious smile and sense of humor. We all loved her! I feel just terrible about her passing! Not only did I just adore Betty at McKinley andin High School, but my husband Jeff and I had the nicest visit with her at our 52nd class reunion this past summer. She told me how lonely she was since the passing of her husband and that her family told her to go to the reunion to reconnect with her classmates. She was sitting at another picnic table and I knew immediately that it was Betty. How could you miss that smile!!!?? She shared a very special picture taken with me and another friend of ours, Mary Goodsell Patterson that was taken of us at our 25 year class reunion. I will treasure that picture forever!! Little did I know last summer that I would not see Betty again! This goes to show that “you just never know” and enjoy every day as if it were your last. Life is precious! I am so glad I had that time with Betty. She looked amazing and I will never forget her! My condolences to her family! She said wonderful things about you when we talked at the reunion Rest In Peace dear Betty!!!!

I was saddened to hear the news of Betty’s passing. It’s been many years since we’ve seen each other in person, but I’ve thought of her often! I have so many fond memories of her (and her family) — from childhood through adulthood. We had lots of fun and laughter, and shared both happy and sad times together. I will always remember her sweet smile and her inclination to always look on the bright side.
Rest in peace my dear friend until we meet again at heaven’s gate!
