Carl proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II in Europe. He was taken as a Prisoner of War during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 and held captive until the war ended in May 1945. Following his military service, Carl worked in maintenance at Johnson Wax until his retirement in 1982.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Dolores Tatman of Racine; children, Barbara (Denis) Hodge of The Villages, FL, Jim (Annette) Tatman of Brookfield, Carrie (Russ) Tatman Schwartz of Racine, Mary Alice Tatman of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, David Hodge, Laura (Chris) Truax, Shaley Hillsman, Shawn Hillsman; great-grandchild, Finley Truax; sisters-in-law, Betty Tatman, and Hilda Jacques.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Tatman.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, 2013, 11:00am, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Entombment with full military honors will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has strongly suggested memorials to Hospice Alliance in lieu of any floral arrangements. Your financial support is needed to help families at their most difficult times.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the entire staff of Hospice Alliance and the entire staff of Home Harbor. Your unending love and support that you have given to our family will never be forgotten. God bless you all!
