Our beloved Carrie L. Howze, age 78, born March 23, 1942, was called to heaven on October 15, 2020. She was born in Quitman, Mississippi, to EL and Hattie Mae Dumas. Carrie graduated from high school in Stonewall, Mississippi, right after having her first child, Jeffrey Dumas, in 1958. She went on to be united in marriage to Watson E. “Sonny” Howze around 1961. They relocated to Evanston, Illinois, and began a family, having five additional children, Karen Howze-Hadley (Jeff), Tony E. Howze (Benita), Tina L. Howze, Beth A. Howze, and April Guenther (Corey). Eventually during that time, they relocated again to Wisconsin. Carrie worked at various factory jobs until she started a private housekeeping service that she enjoyed for many years, meeting special people along the way. Her main joy in life was caring for her six children. Carrie enjoyed going to bingo, shopping, and decorating. She had a knack for the finer things and only wanted the best for herself and everyone around her. Carrie always made an effort to make sure her family was taken care of, she made herself available to them and never turned them away. She was a woman of her word and made sure to provide inclusion to everyone around her, even if they were not family. If you have been in any contact with her, you are sure to remember the kind woman she was. Her heart was always pure even if she couldn’t find the words to express it. Carrie will be dearly missed by not only her family, but her special friend, mother Shirley Mooney. Carrie also leaves to cherish her memory, three of her children, Jeffrey Dumas, Tina Howze, and April Guenther; her grandchildren, Johnny Jones, Tamia Griffin, Jermaine Jones, Rashid Jelanni, Tenisha Griffin, Joanna Howze, Priscilla White, Christopher Kelly, Christopher Guenther, Dominique McGee, Alexis Boyden, Mykeshia Howze, Jaynae McGee, Tory Boyden, Brittany Howze, Breanna Gunther, Cameron Guenther; her brother, Clifford Dumas (Elizabeth), and a host of great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Watson E. Howze; her children, Karen Howze-Hadley, Tony E. Howze, Beth A. Howze; her sons-in-law, Jeffrey Hadley and Corey J. Guenther; her sisters and brothers, Lillian, Roberta, Helen, Liza, David, Albert, Sammy and Robert. Carrie has gone to a place that was prepared for her by Christ. She was put on earth to serve his purpose and plan. As we celebrate her homegoing, she wants us to continue to be there for one another and be reminded of the sweet and pure heart she left us with. Her legacy will remain while she praises with her Father in heaven. Amen!
