Racine– Charles H. Quinn, 75, passed away peacefully at Kenosha Estate Living and Care Center and was reunited with his beloved wife on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.
Charles was born in Racine on January 16, 1936 to the late Herbert and Lula (nee: Jacobsen) Quinn. A graduate of Eagle River High School, he went on to faithfully serve our country with the United States Navy. On March 31, 1956 in Phelps, he was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Jeanette M. (nee: Kinner), of whom he affectionately called his “Snobie Bear”. Charles was heartbroken when Jeanette preceded him in death on March 16, 2010.
Charles enjoyed his longtime career as an automobile salesman with various dealerships throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. He went on to work as a sales specialist for Sears, from where he retired. Charles was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. A “Jack of all Trades”, Charles enjoyed working in his yard, fixing cars, home improvements and putzin’ in the garage. Proud of his Irish heritage, he looked forward to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day like most people look forward to Christmas. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his children, Stacy Kowalski of Georgia; Scott (fiancé, Chris Culliton) Quinn of Racine; and Stephany Kapla of Racine; son-in-law, Jim Kapla; grandchildren, Toni and Tyler Kapla; sister, Evelyn (Jack) Nelson; sisters-in-law, JoAnn and Georgene Quinn; special nephews and niece, Brian Quinn, Cindy (Jay) Warlock and Jim (Sandy) Quinn; other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford, Bernie and Herbert (Theresa) Quinn; and by Jeanette’s parents, Walter and Lillian (nee: Rosner) Kinner.
A Memorial Service and Life Celebration will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 3 pm with Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 1-3 pm.
A special note of thanks to the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints for the compassionate care and support during our Dad’s declining health over the past few years. May God bless all of you!
