Racine – Connie Lee Neal, 62, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was born in Demopolis, Alabama, on September 3, 1953, son of the late Elmore and Willie (Née: Hill) Neal.
Connie was united in marriage to the former, Donna Mae Holt, on August 31, 2002, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Racine.
Connie graduated in 1972 from John Essex High School in Alabama. He was a star athlete in basketball and football, playing on junior and varsity teams at 14 years old. He confessed to Christ at age 11 and started preaching the word at age 12 at True Vine Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert Pierce. Although no longer in the pulpit, Connie continued to speak the word to anyone needing encouragement through life’s struggles.
Connie had several jobs in his lifetime, but his favorite was “two turntables and a microphone”. He loved being a DJ and was known in the business as “Black Magic”. There was nothing you could ask of Connie that he wouldn’t do for you. The nickel in his pocket was yours along with the shirt he was keeping the nickel. Connie loved his family tremendously and treasured the time spent with all of them. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Connie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Donna Neal of Racine; children, Stacie Neal of Grayslake, IL, Sha-Rie (Karee) Allen of Indiana, Joseph Braggs of Kenosha, Kim Love of Racine, John Love of Long Beach, CA, Stacy Love of Racine; Kelly (Alfy) McGee of Racine; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Elmore Neal, Jr of Demopolis, AL, Dorothy (Nelson) Thurman of Oak Park, IL, Gloria Branch of Kansas City, MO, Ann (Willie) Hunter of Demopolis, AL, Charlene Harris of Demopolis, AL, Michael (Ella) Neal of Detroit, MI; special family friends, Milton and Stevland McCovery; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends too numerous to mention by name (but the love was there for all).
In addition to his parents, Connie is preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Neal.
A celebration of Connie’s life will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2016, 12:00pm, at Second Baptist Church, 3925 32nd Avenue, Kenosha. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. In accordance with Connie’s wishes, cremation will follow the services.
The family would like to say “Thank You” to Dr. Young Choi and staff at the WFH-All Saints Cancer Center, Dr. Robert Taylor and staff in radiology, WFH Hospice nurses and staff, and the Second Baptist Church in Kenosha for the love and care given to our family during this difficult time.
