A memorial gathering to remember and honor Cora is being planned by her family.

Cora J. Billups, aka “Chic”, age 72, was called home on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was born in Racine on May 1, 1952 to Jimmy D. and Coren (Gilliam) McWhorter.
Cora enjoyed softball, bowling, spending quality time with and cooking for all she considered family and friends. To know Chic was to love her, and if she cussed you out, you knew you were loved. Her all-time favorite sports team was the Green Bay Packers. She was an avid “all Wisconsin teams'” sports fan and enjoyed winning money while watching the games. Cora was employed by Acme Die Casting, Blue Light, InSinkErator, Big Lots, and retired from Andis Company to take care of her mother.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her mother, Coren; son, James (Natashia) Billups; grandson, Donatellio Billups; brother, Jerry McWhorter and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Cora was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy D. McWhorter; brothers, Jimmy L. (Bunk) McWhorter Sr. and Ricky McWhorter; sister-in-law Anita McWhorter; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Luella McWhorter; and maternal grandparents, Willie Gilliam and Birdie Mae Mcgee.
Chic’s favorite saying was: I’M YOUNG, SINGLE AND FREE, EVERYTHING I GOT BELONGS TO ME!
