
Curtis A. Foertsch, 65, died unexpectedly at WFH – All Saints on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.
He was born in Racine on December 13, 1945, the son of the late Sherman R. and June L. (nee: Hynek) Foertsch. On March 21, 1970, he married the love of his life, Charlene Baird.
Curtis worked for over 21 years at Massey Ferguson. Upon the company’s closing he and his wife opened Curt and Char’s Stop on Inn on Douglas Avenue which they have operated together for the past 15 years. He was an active member of the Wisconsin Tavern League.
Curtis proudly served his nation with the National Guard. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Cubs. However, he was happiest when he was in the presence of his family and dear friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Charlene, he is survived by his daughters, Claudia (Renaldo) Mendoza of Kenosha and Renee (Jason) Itzenhuiser of Racine; grandchildren, Kelsey, Madison and Nicholas Mendoza, Natalie, Abigail, and Adriane Itzenhuiser; sisters, Donna Van Kampen of Hendersonville, NC, MaryAnn (Dr. James) Hanson of Brookfield, WI; brother, Jim ‘Sherm” (Kathy) Foertsch of Racine; sister-in-law, Charlotte (Nick) Romano of Racine; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, loyal friends and customers.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at noon for the celebration of Curtis’ life. There will be time to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until noon. A cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Orphaned Kanines or Countryside Humane Society in honor of Curtis’ love for animals.
