Curtis Eugene Hicks was born in Crockett County, Tennessee on July 6, 1935 to the late Leroy and Florence (nee: Koonce) Hicks. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean McCorkle on January 15, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi. Curtis Eugene Hicks was employed at JI Case Company, retiring after 29 years of service. Curtis enjoyed being around his family and helping them whenever needed.
His survivors include his wife, Barbara; his children, Denise Jackson of Racine, Ronnie (Karen) Hicks of Atlanta, Georgia, and Wanda Hicks of Racine; grandchildren, Keisha Hicks of Atlanta, Aris Claybrook of Racine, Amber (Jim) Haynes of Racine, and Andre Hicks of Atlanta; and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Robert Hicks, Sr., Lucy (Willie) Curtis, and Thomas (Beverly) Hicks; sister-in-law, Annie Hicks; brother-in-law, Alvin (Kalima) Moody; aunts, Ellawee Hicks and Willadean Hicks; as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Robert Scales. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Opaline Smith and Rebecca Johnson; one brother, Walter Ray Hicks; brothers-in-law, Amos smith and Leonard Johnson, Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Sherlene Hampton and Lula Mae Hicks.
Homegoing services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 with Rev. Buddy O. Vinson officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday evening from 5pm -7pm, and Tuesday beginning at 10am. Memorials to the American Cancer society have been suggested.
