A Celebration of Danny’s Life will be held at Hiawatha Bar and Grill, 9809 Durand Avenue, Sturtevant on Saturday, October 14, 2024 from 1:00PM – 4:00PM.
Danny passed away peacefully on August 14th, 2024. Born in Denver Colorado on January 3rd, 1949 to Raymond and Betty (Charleton) Clausen, they relocated to Racine, WI when he was a child. He attended Washington Park High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1967. There he would serve 4 years during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he moved to Lubbuck, TX, where he briefly attended Texas Tech University. In December off ‘72, while on a trip back to Racine for the holidays, he would meet, Debra J. Christensen (McCarthy). 16 days later, January 6th, 1973, they were married. They would go on to raise 4 children together and even though they divorced in 1991, they remained the best of friends until his passing.
In the 90’s, after his divorce, he was introduced to country line dancing. Danny would spend many nights a week meeting at various locations learning the latest dances and taking the ladies for a spin around the floor. He was a member of the K-Town Kickers and County Line Dancers and would often help Debi with setting up or tearing down for many of the dance events she hosted. He would go on to make many dear friends during this ERA of his life and would remember those days fondly.
In the 2000’s, he would meet Lisa Sohr, with whom he would find love again. They would spend 10 years together, going on many camping trips to Rhinelander with her family. And even with her passing in 2006, he continued to look after Lisa’s mother, until her passing in 2014.
Danny was a lover of all Wisconsin sports, be it Packer’s, Buck’s, Brewer’s or Badger’s, he could be heard throughout the house cheering on his favorite team! He enjoyed fishing, even when he wasn’t catching anything and would often look up at to the stars on a clear evening. He was known for his dad jokes and dry sense of humor. And while he didn’t see all his children and grandchildren as often as he should have or could have, he thought of and spoke of them more often than they will ever know.
Left to remember his outrageous stories and bad dad jokes are his 4 children- Delaney (Daniel) Arnold, Daryl (Amanda) Clausen, Dustin (Julie Schaefer) Clausen, Dana (Paul) Shelton, 13 grandchildren- Elisa, Stephanie, Tanner, Grace, Evelyn, Emma, Matilda, Geraldine, Jesse, James, Zelda, Violet and Juniper; 5 great grandchildren- Levi, Peyton, Blake, Talia and William; His brothers Randy and Kelly Clausen, other cousins, aunts and uncles and many friends, including, of course, Debi (Bruce) Bodven.
Danny is preceded in death by his Fiancé, Lisa Sohr, Lisa’s parents Thomas and Joyce Grainger, infant granddaughter, Madeline and his parents, Raymond and Betty Clausen
Vincent Candido, Sr. says
