
Deborah Cobb (85), of Racine, WI, was called home by her Loving Savior on Monday September 21, 2015. Mrs. Cobb was born in Ripley, MS on September 20, 1930 to the late George and Johnnie B. (Stricklin) Simmons.
On September 13, 1952, Deborah was united in marriage to Bud Ernest Cobb who preceded her in death on July 12, 2008. Mrs. Cobb professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the St. John Baptist Church in Ripley, MS. She later joined St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the Missionary Society and Deaconess until her health began to fail.
Mrs. Cobb was employed by St. Mary’s hospital where she dedicated 40 years of service. Her hobbies were gardening and rummaging. She met and made many friends through her entrepreneurship skills in rummaging. She had a flare for clothes and loved shopping. She was also a meticulous housekeeper, and had tremendous love for her children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Mary Selmon, and Martha Selmon, of Racine, WI, Linda Cobb and Ernest Cobb, of Toledo, OH, Gary (Laura) Cobb, Carol D. Cobb, and Michael J. Cobb, of Racine; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Gregory, Mary Weatherspoon, Lorene Story, Orine Story, William (Ruth) Simmons, Vallie (Walter) Rogers, all of Racine, and John (Mae) Simmons, of Ripley, MS. Also, surviving are two special daughters in law, Carol Selmon Prather of Ripley, MS and Utha Cobb of Racine, WI and a host of nieces, nephew and special friends.
Mrs. Cobb was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Henry Selmon, her son, William Curtis Selmon, infant daughter, Deborah Cobb, grandson, Anthony Selmon, and brother, Robert Simmons.
Home going service will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1120 Center Street, Racine, WI, with Bishop L.L. Kirby officiating. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd. on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Kenosha and Milwaukee Aurora hospitals for the care and kindness shown to Mrs. Cobb and her family.
