
Dolores J. McConnell, 78, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007. She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 9, 1929, daughter of the late Herman and Irene (nee: Norwood) Lopez. Most of her life she lived in Racine. It was on December 23, 1955 when she was united in marriage with Maurice S. McConnell. He has preceded her in death Dolores spent her life caring for her family and thinking of others. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, and cooking for the family. She spent many hours volunteering with the King Center (formerly known as the Breakthrough Center), and at St. Monica’s Home. Dolores was a member of Starlight Outreach Ministries. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Robert Williams of Detroit, Michigan, Maria (Jimmy) Sims, and Benita (Tony) Howze both of Racine; grandchildren, Sterling Williams, and David Williams both of Detroit, Bryan Collier of Memphis, Tennessee, Tamia (John) Chapple of Milwaukee, and Tiniesha Griffin of Racine; great-grandson, Tyler Green; Sister, Clara Bridgeman of Racine; brother, Alan (Mildred) Harris of Grand Rapids, Michigan; god-daughters, Carla Harris of Grand Rapids, Tiffany Harris, and Brandee Harris both of Racine, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and fiends. She was also preceded by her son, Michael Williams; daughter, Juanita McConnell; her brothers, Lawrence and Edward Harris; sisters, Kay Jones, Brenda Harris, and Beverly Harris; and her aunt, Inez Norwood. Dolores’s Homegoing will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John P. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation and viewing will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.
