Miller's FlowersRacine – Donald Henry Bagley, age 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, early Saturday morning, October 26, 2024 sometime after watching game one of the Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series. This was his favorite past time. His family is grateful for him watching the grand slam before his passing.
Don was born in Merrill, WI on March 9, 1939 to Henry and Erna (nee: Bahlow) Bagley. He served our country with the Army National Guard from 1956-1964.
On September 5, 1998 in Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Don was united in marriage with Linda (nee: Haasch) Bagley.
Don could usually be found at John’s Taylor Avenue bar watching the Green Bay Packer’s play. He was a faithful Packer, Brewer, Badger, and Bucks fan. He loved to watch anything on TV with a ball. He could often be found at any local ball game. He loved spending time with his two best friends, Bob Folsom & Willy Jung. He went to 100’s of Raiders games on Saturday night. Don was employed at Kappus Bread for over 25 years and established friendships with all his customers on his Durand Avenue route. Don had a great work ethic; however, we found out from a reliable source of ours that he was really chatting in customers’ backrooms while eating donuts. When his girls were old enough to date his first question was always “do they have a job?”.
When we were kids, Don “Dad” would tell all our friends that their mothers called on the phone and that they wanted their kids to come home, which wasn’t true. He just wanted some peace and quiet. He was also known for having junky cars with no mufflers. When anyone would complain to him his favorite phrase was “Well that’s life in the big city!”
Surviving are his loving wife of 26 years, Linda; daughters, Debbie Kennedy, DeeDee (Mike) Chiappe and Denise (Jason Callewaert) Bagley; grandchildren, Nicole, Taylor & Tarah Kennedy, Liza, Orlando & Alyssa Chiappe, bonus daughters, Judith (Scott) Johnson, Laurie Widmar and Nancy Hayward. Bonus grandchildren, Kaetlyn and Kevin Rosenberg; Conner, Collin & Carson Widmar and Nicki Koos & Mary Mink; six great grandchildren, brother, Floyd (Sandra) Bagley; nieces, nephews, & many other relatives and friends. Don had the gift to gab.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Harold, Henry and Lloyd (Boo); sisters, Maimi and Marion; bonus son, Jerry Hayward, and his former wife and mother of his daughters, Donna Bagley.
