
Due to Thursday’s inclement weather, the visitation and funeral have been postponed until Saturday, January 9th. Visitation will begin at 12 noon. Funeral services will begin at 1p.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Reedsburg – Donald Kent Muntinga, 82, passed away at St. Clair Hospital in Baraboo on Friday, January 1, 2010. He was born in Racine on December 18, 1927, the son of the late Herbert and Lucille (nee: Schuri) Muntinga. Don proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge he received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. On June 14, 1952 he was united in holy matrimony to Alice Georgeff in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Donald worked over 40 years as an operational engineer at Western Publishing. Following his retirement he and Alice relocated to Reedsburg to be closer to their son and grandchildren. His family was very important to him. He was a devoted husband to Alice, and a patient and loving mentor and father to Kevin. Donald had a lifelong love for boats, and enjoyed building radio controlled scale models. His models were highly detailed and well regarded by others at events all across the state. Donald also enjoyed snowmobiling as a member of the Eskimo snowmobile club, and was a member of the Racine Instinctive Bowmen. He will be missed by many, including his Boxer, Brutis. Don is survived by his wife, Alice; their son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Sue Muntinga of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, Erin (Christopher) Wolfe of Terra Bonne, Oregon, Michael (Shanna Tourdot) Muntinga of LaValle, and Thomas Muntinga of Wisconsin Dells; great-grandchildren, Cory and Karsen Wolfe, Caden, Jack, and Kenlee Muntinga. He was also preceded in death by his grandsons Robert and Ryan; and his brother Robert. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Military Honors and entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will begin in the funeral home at 12 noon. Memorials to Diabetes Association have been suggested.
