Racine – Donald L. Larsen, 90, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was born in Racine on November 3, 1924, son of the late Carl and Esther (nee: Rasmussen) Larsen.
Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Myrtle Marie Carrier, on June 18, 1955, at Holy Name Catholic Church.
Don graduated from Park High School in 1942. He faithfully and honorably served his country as a B-17 navigator in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he was an engineer and a salesman for Modine Manufacturing Company until his retirement in 1987. Don was a lover of animals. Above all, he was a true family man with a great sense of humor. Don will be dearly missed.
Don leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 60 years, Myrtle Larsen of Racine; children, Diane (Tom Wiggins) Larsen of Buford, Georgia, Karen Larsen of Racine, Keith (Katie) Larsen of Union Grove; grandchildren, Mike Larsen, Sara Larsen, both of Union Grove; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Larsen; and sister, Shirley (Chuck) Anderson.
A celebration of Don’s life will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2015, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
The family would like to extend a “Thank You” to the staff at Becker Shoop and the staff at Vitas Hospice Ruth House for the care given to Don during his time of illness.
