Miller's FlowersMOUNT PLEASANT – Edith M. Simington, 90, passed away at home on Sunday, June 24, 2018.
She was born in Webb City, MO on September 13, 1927, the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel (nee: Ellis) Ivy. She graduated from Webb City High School. On April 16, 1946, she married Earl Simington. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Edith worked at Insinkerator for over 52 years and was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Edith always made herself available to others and anyone needing a helping hand. She loved traveling and camping with her late husband Earl. Edith also enjoyed backyard campfires, watching baseball, bowling, golfing, sewing, gardening, baking, making porcelain dolls and family and friend get-togethers. Above all, she enjoyed being in the company of her family whom she loved very much.
She is survived by her son, David Simington; her daughter, Sheila (William) McGee; her four grandsons, David J. Simington, Earl T. Simington all of Racine, James T. (Katie) McGee of Boston, William C. McGee of Racine; three great granddaughters, Dawn, Danielle and Deanna; six great-great grandchildren all of Minnesota; her sister-in-law, Rose Ivy; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Terri Simington; her sisters and brothers, Dortha (Hamish) Cummings, Elma (Myron) Stalsburg, Lois Zemke, Ernest (Maryanne) Ivy and Fred Ivy.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2018 for a visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A service celebrating and honoring her life will follow at 6:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.
