Service Details

Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 13th at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to that, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Edna E. Vargas, 86, of Racine, passed away in the Ridgewood Care Center on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala on October 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Arturo and Elvira (nee: Ruiz) Rodriguez.

She was educated in all the best schools in Central America, obtaining her associate degree in languages, before starting her teaching career. Later in life, she became an Avon Lady. Edna was a world traveler and was an avid Elvis fan.

Surviving are her husband, Edward R. Vargas; her children, Carlos (Fabiola) Vargas, of Santa Clarita, CA, Ana Zavala, of Racine, Edwardo (Yoceline) Vargas III, of Kenosha, Jose (Tina Evanson) Vargas, of Hayward, CA, Eduardo (Connie) Vargas, Byron (Reina) Vargas, and Guillermo (Chelle) Vargas, all of Kenosha; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Maria Teresa Vargas, of Surprise, AZ. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive her. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her grandson, Jordan Vargas; son-in-law Abimael Zavala, several brothers and sisters; and her brother-in-law, Isaias Vargas.
