
Edward J. Kovac, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2007 in the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, with his wife Ellen at his side. Edward was born in Racine on April 3, 1918, the son of the late Samuel and Louise (nee: Zahumensky) Kovac. On August 2, 1941, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to the former Ellen Cullen. Edward proudly served his country with the United States Army, and was a veteran of WWII. He had been employed by Modine Manufacturing for 45 years, and was a member of the Modine 20 Year Club. Edward was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. He was an avid Packer fan. Edward enjoyed polka music, dancing and fishing; but above all, he was a loving and devoted, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.. Edward is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ellen; their children, Patty (Robin) Jacobsen, Tina (Alex) Abromaitis, Jimmy (Linda) Kovac; grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew (Jessica), Peter, Laura, Julie (Justin), Billy, Joe (Becky), Tom, Brian (Shawn) and Jason (Jami); great grandchildren, Trenton, Tyler, Michael, Leia, Caleb, Alexia, Sierra and Dakota. His sisters-in-law, Jane Paar and Suzanne Cullen, niece, nephews, other relatives and friends, many of whom he most recently resided with at Home Harbor, further survive him. In addition to his parents, his granddaughter and his brothers and sisters preceded Edward in death. His funeral service will he held in the funeral home on Friday, October 5th, at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Friday from 12 Noon until the time of the Service. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Hy 32. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Odyssey Healthcare and Hospice Alliance for their commitment, care and compassion shown to their loved one as he prepared for his final journey home.
