
Racine- Edward William Foldy, 99, passed away peacefully at home and was born into Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 30, 2011.
Edward was born in Racine on June 11, 1912 to the late Lewis and Mary (nee: Salles) Foldy. Growing up on a dairy farm in Stanley, Wisconsin; Edward went on to graduate from Moore’s Business College.
On September 4, 1937, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Gladys Grace (nee: Patrick) Foldy. During his career, Edward had been employed as a commercial bank teller at First National Bank; an accountant at Oster Mfg.; and as a payroll specialist / bookkeeper for Knight-Barry Abstract Co., from where he retired in 1981 after 27 years of service.
Edward was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church; Optimist Club; Masonic Order #92; Knights of Pythias; and the Counting Team at Atonement. Among his interests, he enjoyed golfing; filming 8mm home movies; listening to classical music; camping; travelling; and loved spending 21 consecutive winters in Florida with his dear Gladys.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 74 years, Gladys; their children, Judith Ann (Joe) Cranley, James Edward (Kathleen) Foldy and Joanne Marie (Rev. Warren) Williams; former daughter-in-law, Margaret Robinson, all of Racine; grandchildren, Sean (Jackie) Cranley, Jennifer (Craig) Kiesler, Rika (Mike) Phipps, Jerry (Sue) Foldy, Kristen (Kevin) Cantrell; Megi Morishita, M.D.; and Mike (Tammy) Foldy; 10 great-grandchildren; nephew, Ken (Jan) Mowry, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jeanne in 1943; infant granddaughter, Rana Cranley; infant great-grandson, Charles Saliscente; brothers, Arthur (Agnes) and Henry (Augie) Foldy; brothers-in-law, Wallace (Emma) and Glenn (Jean) Patrick; and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (Ken) Mowry and Naomi (Charles) Kish.
In accordance with Edward’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm in Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, with Edward’s son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 12-1 pm. Private interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In memory of Edward, memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church have been suggested.

Some of my fondest memories growing up have to be spending time around Uncle Eddy. He always had a smile on his face, and never had a cross word for us kids. His hugs were genuine and loving. I will truly miss this humble man. God Bless.
