
Mrs. Elisabeth “Omi” Schwalbe, 93, died at Aurora Medical Center on Monday, August 30, 2010.
Lisa was born in Lodz, Poland on October 9, 1916, the daughter of German parents, Otto and Wilhelmine (nee: Pettersch) Triebe. On June 29, 1937 she married Alfons Schwalbe. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2002
Her expertise of preparing Polish, German and American dishes was not only enjoyed by all of her family but also friends at many dinner parties and picnics. Many recipes, especially her famous naturally fermented salt pickles, have been written down for generations to follow. Her talent for sewing most of her own wardrobe also included knitting and crocheting for herself as well her children and grandchildren.
Lisa is survived by her children, Peter and Alice Schwalbe of Kenosha and Heidi and Guy “Tom” Covelli of Friendship, WI (formerly of Kenosha); grandchildren, Monica (Scott) Lueder of Cedarburg, WI, Eric (Julie) Covelli of Cary, IL, Carina (Stephen) DeCroes of Chicago, IL, Camela (Brian) Langendorf of Racine, Toby (Valerie) Schwalbe of Salt Lake City, UT; great grandchildren, Jessica Lueder, Olivia, Noah and Ethan Covelli, Andrew and Adam Langendorf and Theodore and Gabriel DeCroes. In addition to her parents and husband, Lisa was preceded in death by her brother, Horst Triebe who died at age 18 during combat in WWII, and sister, Gretl Eggert in 2002.
A service celebrating Lisa’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 – 6:30 p.m. A private burial service will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials in Elisabeth Schwalbe’s name may be directed to the Kenosha Achievement Center or St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha.
We wish to offer a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Sheridan Medical Complex where Lisa resided the past few years, as well as the nurses, doctors and staff at Aurora Medical Center. We truly appreciate the professionalism and loving care extended to not only Omi but to our family as well.

Lisa was my roommate at Sheridan Medical Complex.We was roommates for 16 days. She was a very beautiful happy person. She would be singing all the time. She was trying to teach my Granddaughters German. They loved her too.She will be very much missed. All my sympathy to the whole family but to Peter & Alice speciality. God Bless you all.
