
Elmer Tyler (Nee: Bobo), age 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, in Milwaukee, WI. She was born in Saltillo, MS, on October 6, 1926 to the late Andrew and Lonie Bobo.
Elmer soon met and married the love of her life in September of 1958, Mr. Henry Tyler Jr. Henry and Elmer moved their family to Racine, WI in 1966. She worked as a cook at Franklin School for a while but as her family began to grow, the need for her love and care would be better appreciated at home. She was the mother of eight children, so she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, then for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and finally her great-great-great grandchildren. Elmer was blessed to cook and babysit for almost all five generations. Mother Tyler united with New Omega Baptist Church in 2002, under the leadership of Pastor Fred L. Richmond and she remained a member until the time of her death.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are: her daughters, Evelyn (Nee: Hood) Smith, Mary (William) Bland; Sons, Dewey Bobo, David (Helen) Tyler, Logan (Avis) Tyler, Henry (Sherry) Tyler, Andrew (Linda) Tyler; Thirty Seven Grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, Thirty great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Elmer had three special friends that she held very dear to her heart, Evelyn (Donald) Clark, Gloria Oliver and Cleveland Scaife.
Elmer was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Henry Tyler Jr.: daughter, Betty Hood; Sisters, Minnie, Myrtle, Rosetta, Marzetta, Bernice, and Selma; brothers, Ollie and Andrew.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013, 11:00am, at New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Ave. Pastor Fred Richmond will be officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service.
