KENOSHA – Eugenia Zwarycz, 94, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 27, 2021, at The Legacy at St. Joseph’s.
She was born in Belarus on November 2, 1926, the daughter of Emelian and Lina (nee Parfenenko) Eliseev. She later moved to Germany where she would meet the love of her life, Stefan Zwarycz, and they married on October 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2019.
Eugenia cherished her Catholic faith. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she served in the Rosary Society for many years, as well as a member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Church of Milwaukee.
She and her husband loved being Florida “Snowbirds” and also enjoyed spending many summers at their Northern Wisconsin cottage. Family and friends were so important to Eugenia and all were sure to get a delicious meal or special treat when they walked in her door. Her ethnic dishes were cooked and served with love, especially her famous mushroom gravy that she made after spending happy hours mushroom hunting in the woods. Eugenia enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, playing cards, working on number search puzzles, and also playing the slots and the lottery. She was employed at AMC/Chrysler for 31 years. Eugenia worked hard to make a good life for her family. Family times were precious to her. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was caring, generous, and had a loving heart.
Eugenia is survived by her daughters, Mary (Michael Thompson) Harms and Sandra (Richard) Jonas; her grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) Harms, Katherine Harms and Michael Jonas; her great granddaughter, Abigail Harms; as well as her sisters and brother, Luba Mangelsdorf, Maria Weissmann, and Adolf Klein.
