Evelyn "Evie" Mae Martini

Apr 11, 1933 – Aug 12, 2016

Racine – Evelyn Mae Martini, 83, known affectionately to all as “Evie”, received the promise of eternal life on Friday, August 12, 2016. She was born in Menominee, MI, on April 11, 1933, daughter of the late Edward and Clara (nee: LaChappelle) Doubek.

Evelyn was united in marriage to the love of her life, Kenneth L. Martini, on July 4, 1953, in Menominee, Michigan. Ken preceded Evie in death on April 2, 2015.

Evie graduated from Menominee High School in 1951. She was definitely in touch with her creative side. Evie has created many pieces of beautiful artwork over the years. Some of her sketch books are still around filled with some of her spontaneous sketches.

Evie was a lover of animals. She enjoyed her pets throughout her life from guinea pigs to hamsters. Evie also enjoyed having many grand-pups and grand-kitties to love. Evie was also a fantastic story teller. She would tell so many fantastic stories, usually self-deprecating, but would make people laugh hysterically. Evie would also come up with many strange one-liners that have affectionately become known throughout the family as “Evie-isms”. She was a fun-loving person to be around and will be dearly missed by her entire family and many, many, dear friends.

Evie leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Dr. John Martini, Ed Martini; daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Martini, Sandy Martini; granddaughters, Adrienne, Erica (Mark), Katie, Stacy, Angela; great-granddaughter, Violet; brothers, Dennis (Sandy) Doubek, Jerry “Pete” (Delores) Doubek; brothers-in-law, Jack (Theresa) Martini, Charlie (Joanne) Martini, Simon (Barbara) Martini; caregiver and dear friend, Nesta Sumani; many grand-pups, grand-kitties; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evie is preceded in death by her son, Mark Martini; brother, Joe Doubek.

A celebration of Evie’s life will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, 6:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until the time of the service. Private interment will take place on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Testimonials

Last warm-hearted care of our mother

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
