A memorial service, celebrating the life of Fr. James R. Braun, will be held on Saturday, September 25th, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Matthew Episcopal Church, 5900 7th Avenue, Kenosha, with Bishop Jeffrey D. Lee, Provisional Bishop for the Diocese of Milwaukee, officiating.

The Rev. Canon James (Jim) R. Braun, age 71, passed to eternal life Friday, Jan.1, 2021.
Born in Racine to Jerome and Dorothy (Konrad) Braun, Jim graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Parkside in 1971, and Nashotah House Theological Seminary in 1974. An Episcopal priest, after serving a year at Grace Church in Madison, he served for 36 years at St. Matthew’s in Kenosha, retiring in 2011. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, camper, biker, and cook who greatly valued sharing time and activities with family and friends.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife Karen (nee Killingstad), son Joseph, daughter Katherine, son-in-law Lavar, granddaughter Anna, and sister-in-law Jeri. Cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Thomas (Jeri).

I’m so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I was the office manager at Becker Shoop and I so enjoyed his visits with his dog. The residents looked forward to it. He even shared a turkey recipe with me. He touched many lives with his big heart.
