Miller's FlowersFrank Smith passed away on March 1, 2024, in the care of Hospice of NW Ohio at the age of 73. He was born to the union of Andy V. Smith and Alberta Smith (nee Jackson) in Myrtle, MS on January 23,1951.
Frank graduated BF Ford High School in New Albany, MS class of 1969 after his earlier education in Racine, WI. He also had some years of college education.
Frank then served in the US Military, Vietnam front lines, from 1971 to 1972. Frank worked a variety of jobs prior to his employment with American Motors (Kenosha, WI). This job shifted him to Toledo Jeep/Chrysler from which he retired after over 30 years of dedication.
Frank accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. As an adult, he became a member of Glass City Church of Christ (Toledo). Most important to him was his love for family and his life values.
Frank was a vibrant soul with a big personality and even bigger heart! He had a laugh that could be heard for miles. He loved to “tinker” on old classic cars, be a handy “Mr. Fix-It”, and certainly lend a helping hand to all who needed him.
As a lover of music, Frank played horns in a band in his early years and had music of all types playing whenever and wherever he could. Often humming a tune and even singing karaoke! He was also an avid athlete, competitive with a smile! From a young age Frank played organized softball, basketball, golf, and bowling (most recently Shirley Smith Travelers League).
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Andy and Alberta Smith; his daughter Tamara Turner; his brothers Roscoe Smith and Robert McKinney; his sister Mable Upchurch; special aunt Wilma Rogers; and several other close family and friends.
Frank leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife and partner for over 47 years, Debora Smith; his beloved children Shalane Smith, Raina Turner, Frank Smith, Jr., and Karmela Smith; sisters Retha, Wanda, Doris, and Hope Smith; grandchildren Trinitee, Anthony, Christopher, Dominique, Malcolm, Arianna, Brekayla, Zachary and Eva; special friends Ronnie Payne, Sr. and William Suggs, as well as a host of other close family and friends.

My love goes out to my sister and family. I have been in the direction you are now going, as I laid my own husband to rest recently. I cannot imagine how you are feeling. However, I hope you are feeling the lords peace and love. Words of wisdom , Cling to God’s unchanging hand. He will stay there with you and forever comfort you all. As the song says “It’s so hard to say goodbye to what we had”. All I can say is I will miss you my friend. You kept our family together for years. Rest in peace brother in law. I love you and will always appreciate you being there for Greg. You and Greg were so courageous as you battled with sickness. The battles over now and victory is yours through Christ.
Love,
Linda Coleman and the Smith’s.

To my sister Debbie, Raina and Karmela and the rest of the Smith family. My condolences to you all. Frank was a fighter to the end! He showed strength in weaknesses. Be encouraged knowing that Frank has earned his eternal rest. He fought a “good fight” and has earned his crown. Remember “And God shall wipe away all of your tears , and joy will come in the morning “ We will miss his bright smile.

So grateful to have known Uncle Frank. He and his wife always showed up for me and my sister. The last time I saw him, he was yet again showing up to support us in the loss of our uncle. I’m so glad we got to love on him and even more delighted that he got to meet my son. We will miss that bright, beautiful smile and his loving demeanor. May God bless and keep his family in this trying time.
