Gary has been a friend for the past 35 or more years starting with our meeting at Kimberly-Clark. Since my name is Gary also and there were other Gary’s too, we always joked about adding a number to our name so we could be told apart when called upon. Gary squared or Gary cubed! Although we didn’t see each other as often as when we worked together we did enjoy going to gun shows together and spent many hours at these shows evaluating the various firearms that we saw. Gary was very quiet about his family and personal life so I never knew much about it but we did talked a lot about politics and the crazy direction our country is heading these past five years. Gary had a sharp mind and a good sense of humor, it was always fun to spend time with him. I know he went through many personal trials that he kept to himself but I also know he was a christian and I look forward to seeing him when it is my turn to come home to our Lord and Savior!

It was always a joy to work in the lab with Gary. We went on many trips, and when they were to warm locations, the first thing he did when we got to the rental car was crank the AC to the max! Gary did love nature and living by the lake. I remember him telling me about the sounds the lake would make when we had a severe cold snap and the water froze fast. Not many people would notice such a thing. I missed Gary at work but I’m glad he was able to take early retirement and do his own thing.
