Racine – Genevieve M. Wainwright passed away on September 18, 2017 at the age of 102. She was born in Walworth on April 5, 1915, daughter of the late Carl and Clara (nee: Timming) Peters. Genevieve was married in Eau Claire to Richard L. Wainwright on October 28, 1937.
Genevieve worked in the sales department at Wisco Battery for many years, retiring in 1977. She was a kind and gracious lady who enjoyed knitting and crocheting, visiting with friends and relatives, and was well-known for baking her wonderful pies. Genevieve was an active and faithful member of Faithbridge Church (formerly Evangelical United Methodist Church) for many years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Holly Wainwright of Oak Lawn, Illinois; son-in-law, Robert Schommer of Racine; brother, Reginald (Eloyse) Peters of Madison; sister-in-law, Marjory Peters of Deerfield; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wainwright; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Joyce Wainwright; daughter, Judy Schommer; sister, Marie Knull; and brother, William Peters.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Public visitation in the funeral home will begin at 10:00 a.m. Memorials to Faithbridge Church (212 11th St, Racine, 53403) have been suggested.

My special friend, Genevieve, will always be in my heart. She was a faith-filled, generous, loving person who touched many lives during her lifetime. Now united with her husband Dick as well as with other dear family members, she can now be content.
