
Oak Creek – Gerald O. Donaldson, 94, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, October 19, 2015. He was born in Michigan on February 14, 1921, son of the late Arthur and Mae (nee: Skog) Donaldson.
Gerald was united in marriage to the love of his life, Grace Marie (nee: Sullivan) Donaldson, on April 26, 1953, in Milwaukee. Grace preceded him in death on March 26, 2011.
Gerald proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a millwright for Walker Manufacturing for 38 years and then worked for the Ladish Company in Cudahy until his retirement. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church for many years. Gerald was a member of the 5th Street Yacht Club and loved boating and fishing. He liked to work on his own cars, the Green Bay Packers, and gardening. Occasionally, Gerald would even try his luck at the Wisconsin area casinos.
Gerald leaves to cherish his memory his children, Tom (Tina) Donaldson of Crystal Falls, MI, Dale (Mary) Donaldson of Brown Deer, Nancy (Tom Garza) Wedge of Racine, Marilyn (Tom) Kloften of Racine; grandchildren, Tommy Donaldson, Linsey Donaldson, Toni (Alan) Polsean, Patrick Donaldson, Jacob Donaldson, Tabitha (Mark) Flax, Brandon Wedge, Zachary Wedge, Amanda Jaklich, Joseph Jaklich; great-grandchildren, Braydon, Matthew, Alex, Corbin, Adalyn; of Racine; sister-in-law, Rosemary (Frank) Matusinec; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gerald is preceded in death by his son, Patrick Donaldson; sibilngs, Donald, Vernon, Clinton “Sonny”, Beverly Brown, Cynthia Vick, and Ardice Spencer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 23, 2015, 11:00am, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial with full military honors will take place on Monday, October 26, 2015, 9:00am at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dover. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery on Monday. The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association or Heartland Hospice
The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff of Heartland Hospice and the staff at Cornerstone for the love and care given to Gerald during this difficult time.
