A private funeral service was held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Racine followed by interment at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Gertrude “Trudy” Maiwald, 82, passed away at Ascension-All Saints, on Saturday, December 1, 2018. She was born in Racine on May 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Karl and Emma (nee: Hartung) Steinmann.
Trudy was united in marriage on December 21, 1959 to John A. Maiwald in Michigan. To this union, three children were born. They later divorced in 1992.
Trudy was a 1954 graduate of Washington Park High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Phoenix. She had worked at the family business, Zenar Corporation, in Oak Creek.
Over the years, Trudy enjoyed gardening, ceramics, knitting and participating in various morning bowling leagues in Racine. She also had a love of horses. She had been a member of the Racine Yacht Club and the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club.
Surviving are her children, John K. (Kathleen) Maiwald of Elkhorn, Jennifer (Eddie) Kirkorian of Racine, James (Julie) Maiwald of Franksville; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, (children and grandchildren of John K. and Kathleen) – Melissa (Art) Goff and Elizabeth, Hannah, Caleb and Emma, John C. (Ashley) Maiwald and John G. and Ronan, Joshua Maiwald, Joseph Maiwald, (child and grandchild of Eddie and Jenny) – Lisa Kirkorian and Daylen, (children and grandchildren of James and Julie) – Nicole Maiwald and Julyana, Jaymes, Jordynn, Jonathyn, Jayde and Jaxyn, Christy Maiwald and Aryana, Laura (Eric) Milton and Lydia and another one on the way; brother, Karl Steinmann of St. Clair, MI, brother-in-law, Duane Heieren of Georgia along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her sister, Selma Heieren, her sister-in-law, Diane Steinmann and a great-granddaughter, Lyric.
