Miller's FlowersRACINE – Glenn “G” Elliott Gray, was born on June 20, 1966 at St. Mary’s Hospital and passed away at Ascension All Saints in Racine, Wisconsin on April 1, 2023.
Glenn, also known as “G”, graduated from William Horlick High School in 1984. He continued his education and graduated from Marquette University in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed at Master Lock in Oak Creek, Wisconsin and later employed at E.C. Styberg in Racine, Wisconsin.
Glenn was a man who enjoyed strategy and precision in all its forms. G loved to invest in stocks, carefully picking stocks and studying the markets. G enjoyed table games including poker and blackjack. He frequently explored many different casinos in the surrounding areas, but Potawatomi Bingo and Casino was a regular hangout.
Continuing a family tradition, Glenn was a master griller. He crafted his own special recipe and grilling method. G’s ribs were so good that there wasn’t a need for barbeque sauce. G would always say, “you can’t rush it; you gotta cook ’em nice and slow.” His personal favorite food to grill was mussels. Yes, he found a way to grill them, too!
Glenn spent many years in California. In 1992, Glenn moved to California, stayed for a bit, came back to Wisconsin and went back again to California in 2002. While living in California, G became a painter and took on other odd jobs. He enjoyed the outdoors and turned a passion into his full-time job. Always taking pride in his work, G’s attention to accuracy led him to take a position at a Nissan dealership, where he worked as a detailer. Glenn also spent time as a semi-truck operator.
Glenn loved to laugh, have fun, and also make other people laugh. Even if the joke wasn’t funny to you, you would find yourself laughing with him because his laugh was so contagious. G always rooted for the home team. He loved the Green Bay Packers as well as the Milwaukee Bucks, and he made it known to everyone he knew – proudly wearing Packers and Bucks gear. He loved watching the Packers whether they won or lost. If a home team lost, G would say, “well, we’ll get ’em next time, no biggie, no biggie!” Glenn described himself as bicoastal, having lived on the West Coast and in the Midwest. And because G was bicoastal, he became a (then) Oakland Raiders and Golden State Warriors fan – but only if the Packers or Bucks were out for the season!
Glenn is survived by his mother, Ora L. Gray; brother, James P. Gray; sisters, Karen M. Gray (Jerry) Lewis and Sandra L. Gray (Damon) Rohan along with his nieces and nephews. Uncle Glenn, or Uncle G, had special names for each of his nieces and nephews: Cedric Jydann also known as “Bo”; Nadia Jylissa also known as “Moop”; Sean also known as “Seanie”; Jerry also known as “Scooter”; Autumn also known as “The Boss”; DJ also known as “MLB Draft Pick”; Karma also known as “Rose”; Kaden also known as “Jub”; Aliya also known as “Lalee”; and Sergio also known as “Baby Sergio.”
Glenn is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins including special aunts and uncles Odesser and Gregory Maxie, Ruby Buckingham and Jonnie B. Knuckles of California.
He was preceded in death by one child, who passed away at birth; his father, James A. Gray; maternal grandparents Odesser (née Burns) and Joseph C. Knuckles, Sr.; paternal grandparents, President and Artie Mae (née Burell) Gray; aunts and uncles, Ruth Felt, Annie B. Pratt, Mary Ann Pulliam, Ruby Waldrop, Bertha LeSure, Caroline Gray, Rose Gray, Jacqueline Knuckles, Elizabeth Smith and Fabianne Knuckles; Joe Felt, Willie Ed Gray, Charles Gray Deacon Joseph Knuckles Jr., Rev. Denise (DaVita Dialysis) says
Glenn was a rare person. Incredibly smart, funny, kind and caring. In fact, he was one of my favorite people 🙂 and caring for him, talking with him, listening to his jokes made my days worthwhile.
I would try to coach him on life choices, but he was two months and three days my elder, and he made sure to tell me that all the time: “Listen to your elders.”
I am so sorry to have missed the chance to say goodbye to him in person, but he will live on in our memories. I will plant a tree, and I pray I will see him again in a better place.
Sending much Love to his family and friends <3
Debra Albert says
My name is Debra Albert, for some reason I was and have been thinking about Glenn lately so I thought I’d do a search on him .. this breaks my heart.. he and I dated for a short time back in 2010. He meant the world to me and thought of him a lot over the years.. I have a few graphic photo I created of him from back in the day we met online hooked up a few times but I live north of Green Bay it’s quite a way to keep in touch .. 😢😢😢😭 .. so very sorry to read this. My deepest condolences to his family I know you all meant the world to him specially his Mama he spoke highly of her. May he rest easy in the house of God ❤️.
