Racine – Grace Hope (nee: Garcia) Schultz; age 42; passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, August 15, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center following a courageous fight with stage IV cervical cancer. Although it was able to attack her body, the cancer was never able to affect Gracie’s spirit.
Gracie was born in Racine on October 30, 1972 to Raymundo Jr. and Constance (nee: Preston) Garcia. She graduated from William Horlick High School in 1990. On August 9, 2013 at the North Beach Gazebo in Racine, Grace was united in marriage with James M. Schultz. She had been employed by Electrotek Corp. in Oak Creek for many years until taking a job with SC Johnson as a production associate a few years ago.
Gracie was baptized and attended St. Lucy Catholic Church. She was an extreme Green Bay Packers fan who enjoyed harassing and making fun of her husband for being a Bears fan; went to many Milwaukee Brewers games; and boating on hot summer days. Above all, Gracie had a heart of gold who loved spending every available moment with her treasured family and extensive circle of friends.
Surviving are her loving husband, Jim; son, Braden Seitz; father, Raymundo (fiancé, Virginia Sosa) Garcia; brothers, Antonio (Lisa) Garcia and Gabriel Garcia; grandmothers, Esperanza Garcia and Donna Preston; step-daughters, Skylar and Payton Schultz; mother-in-law, Roxanne (Richard) Barlow; sister-in-law, Angela (Brian) Messmer; brothers-in-law, Jamie Barlow and Christopher Barlow; nieces and nephews, Simon Garcia; Natalia & Andrew Messmer; Chelsea, Cameron & Kenzie Barlow; Chase, Tyler & Layton Barlow; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
Gracie was preceded in death by her mother, Constance Preston (who passed away on July 21, 2014); and grandparents, Raymundo Garcia, Sr.; Joseph Preston, Sr.; Joan & William Pollnow.
A Service of Remembrance celebrating Gracie’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm. In recognition of Gracie’s love for sports, all are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey / attire to the services. Private interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “Gracie Schultz Fund” (which is set up at all U.S. Bank locations) for the benefit of Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Ryan Engel and the entire staff at Wheaton Cancer Center for doing everything in their powers to save our Gracie and for all of their compassionate care & support. Also, special thanks to our family and friends for the countless acts of kindness extended in Gracie’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

I only had the pleasure of meeting Gracie one time through Jimmy, but that’s all one person needs to see how special a woman she is. I have heard many stories from close friends on how Gracie could just light up a room and was such a sweet soul. I am so very sorry for Jimmy and Gracie’s family and friends. R.I.P sweet Gracie.
