KENOSHA – Gwendolyn E. “Gwen” (nee: Krueger) Horton, 86, passed away peacefully at Harbor House North in Kenosha on Saturday, April 5, 2008 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She is at peace now and reunited with her beloved husband and daughter in Heaven. Gwen was born in Racine on March 31, 1922, to William and Emma (nee: Gurske) Krueger. On September 7, 1946, she married Adelbert “Del” “Al” G. Horton. They were devoted to each other for 56 wonderful years before Del passed away on March 21, 2003. She graduated from Horlick High School and retired from Voorlas Mfg. Gwen was a kind-hearted, loving and devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. She enjoyed going to rummage sales with her husband and helping him fix things; gardening, needlework, playing the organ and had a love for animals of all kinds. She was a gentle soul. Gwen is survived by her loving and devoted son, Gary (Sherry) Horton and son-in-law, Dieter Vujadinovic, all of Racine; granddaughter, Michelle (nee: Chevalier); great-grandsons, Brian and Clayton Gustin of Racine; sisters-in-law, Marcella Hansen of Savannah, GA; Annella (Joseph) Gedemer and Laverne Horton, both of Racine; and Terry (Robert) Meslar of Gordonsville, VA; and brother-in-law, Marvin Henning of Cedarburg. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Adelbert; her beloved daughter, Dianna Vujadinovic; her mother and father; all of her brothers, Hubert, Eldon, Glennert and Gordon; and all of her sisters, De’Merlyn, Beryldene and Starlene. In accordance with Gwen’s wishes, private funeral services and interment will take place. A public visitation for relatives and friends will be held in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 5-7 pm. Gary and Sherry would like to extend a deeply heartfelt note of thanks to Julia, Veronica, and all the other wonderful and compassionate caregivers at Harbor House North in Kenosha who have lovingly cared for Gwen for the past five years.
