Miller's FlowersRacine – Ida “Katie” (Tucker) Farris received her angel wings and peacefully transitioned to be with our Lord and Savior on April 23, 2020.
Katie was born on April 25, 1943, in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Travis Sr., and Joanna (Lewis) Tucker. Katie was one of 11 children. At an early age Katie accepted the Lord as her savior.
In the 1950s, she moved to Racine, Wisconsin, where she was employed and retired from the Southern Wisconsin Center (formerly Southern Wisconsin Colony), where she compassionately served and took care of individuals with special needs. She loved being in the comfort of her home enjoying the company of her family and friends. She was kind beyond measure and nurturing to all who met her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joanna and Travis Tucker Sr.; brothers Willie Hudson, Ora Lee Tucker, Travis Tucker Jr., and Johnny Barry Tucker; sisters Queen Ann Brown, Alberta Logan, Mildred Tucker-Wray, and grandson Dectrice Spann and daughter-in-law Sonya Pulliam-Farris.
Katie leaves to cherish her five children; Joyce, Ron (Corinda), Rodney and Ricky of Racine, and Yvette (Anthony) of Milwaukee; 19 grandchildren, (eldest grandson Donte Adams, special grandson Rickie Stevens); 13 great-grandchildren, ( special great-granddaughter Ava Anderson); three great-great grandchildren, three sisters; Joannne Powell and Mary Williams of Racine, WI, and Luberta (Murray) Anthony of Mississippi; and a host of nieces (special niece Ann Kirkwood), nephews and friends.
Katie will be remembered for her angelic spirit and enormous heart. Her arms and doors were always opened to anyone in need.
We thank God for her life, and will forever cherish her spirit of loving kindness, and the legacy she surely leaves. Heaven has another angel. Our beloved Katie taught us so much. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts!
