Sturtevant – James L. Poulsen, 65, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, in his sleep on Thursday, January 28, 2010. Jim was born in Racine on June 24, 1944 to the late Adolph and Leona (nee: Wellna) Poulsen. He graduated from Badger High School in Lake Geneva in 1963. Jim faithfully served our Country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1963-67. On April 4, 1970 in St. Rita Catholic Church, Jim was united in marriage with the love of his life, Elisa M. Sadowski. He owned and operated Pathfinders, a delivery service for the Lakeshore Library System, until 1991. Jim was also employed by Ametek-Lamb Electric until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. With a profound Catholic faith, Jim participated in Men of Christ conferences and the Cursillo Movements. Years ago, he was a dedicated Boy Scout Leader. A master of breakfast and phenomenal sandwich maker, Jim received an Associate’s Degree in culinary arts. Without a doubt, his number one priority in life was family and was so dedicated to all of them. Jim was a fantastic husband, loving dad and extremely proud grandpa who treasured every moment of being in their surroundings. Surviving are his wife of nearly 40 years, Elisa; children, Theresa (Michael) Sullivan of Racine; Rebecca (Rudy) Larson of Edgar, WI; and Michael (Rachel) Poulsen of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, all of whom affectionately called him “Poo-Poo”, Zachary Sullivan; Samuel, Emolia, Maximilian, Sophia and Genevieve Larson; brother, Frederick (Janet) Poulsen of Racine; brother-in-law, Timothy Sadowski of Deerfield Beach, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Poulsen; mother, Leona Forestner; brother, Robert Poulsen; and in-law’s (of whom Jim loved as his own), Chester and Dorothy Sadowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 5:00 pm in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126-95th St. in Sturtevant, with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in St. Sebastian Church on Sunday from 3-5 pm. Private entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In memory of Jim, memorials to St. Sebastian Church or to the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home – Union Grove have been suggested.

I wanted to send my deepest condolences for your recent loss. I pray for your family in your grief as you celebrate the too short life of your husband and father. I pray that you know he is watching over your family in your time of grief as he meets with our Creator and begins his eternal life in Christ.
