Jim was born on October 25, 1945 to George and Carol (nee: Pankow) Campbell in Racine, Wisconsin. After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and he was proud to serve his country in Vietnam in 1967 and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. On October 21, 1989, Jim was united in marriage to Cathy Jurkiewicz (nee: Musack). Jim retired from SC Johnson Wax in 1999 after 28 years and would like everyone to know that Cutter does not work. Jim was a long-time member and twice past commodore of the Fifth Street Yacht Club in Racine, and enjoyed volunteering for the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 767, and was known for sporting a jacket with the VVA767 seal on it to show everyone how proud he was. Jim shared his interests with his children and grandchildren, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, spending time at his lake cabin in western Racine County. Jim will be remembered for his outlook on life, his love of tinkering and gadgets of all sorts, his love of his family, his willingness to go above and beyond to create memorable experiences for his children and grandchildren, and the many friends he had from SCJ, FSYC, VVA, and VFW.
Jim is survived by his wife, Cathy; children, Heather (Jack) Kammien and Chad (Nicole) Campbell, and stepdaughter Jennifer (Mark) Hammes; grandchildren, Jack and Eliza Kammien, Autumn and Brandon Hammes; siblings, nieces, and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his stepson Joseph Jurkiewicz, and his wife’s parents, George and Ruth Musack.
