James M. Krummel passed away peacefully on September 27, 2019. He was ninety-nine years old, born November 30, 1919 in Menominee, Michigan, the son of Wenzel and Anna (Ourada) Krummel. Graduated from Marquette University in 1941 with a degree in Business Administration and spent four years in the United States Army 1942 to 1946 lastly as 2nd Lieutenant Adjutant General Division.
Married to the love of his life Helen Louise Murray on November 6, 1948 at St Patrick’s Church, Racine, WI and shared 60 phenomenal years raising a family and building a wonderful life together. They were truly the original dynamic duo.
Jim was employed for over twenty-five years at Horlicks Corporation, Racine, lastly in the position of Executive Vice President. Concurrently served for several years as a director of Airkem LTD, Carlstadt, NJ and for Qunte Milk Products, Quinte, Ontario, Canada. Earlier employed on the business staff of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Jim relished participating in sports and recreational activities which ranged from swimming to flying lessons. He raised his four children to enjoy the same sporting activities as he did which became cherished family events throughout the years. Family swim on Friday nights at the Racine YMCA, weekly organized family tennis outings at Island Park plus ski trips to Rib Mountain/UP of Michigan or at Mount Tom on Sunday afternoons made Jim the happiest. The time spent as a family Jim along with Helen treasured the most and felt were very important for a strong cohesive family. Jim played tennis and golf in his men’s leagues which he enjoyed until his 80th birthday.
Jim also loved nothing better than pouring over travel literature and strategically planning trips to Europe and Asia that he and Helen took over the years. Fifteen major trips in all over the years which created wonderful memories, stories and photos to share.
Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Church where in prior years he served on several parish committees. Past member of Razor Sharp until age 98 and former member of the Racine YMCA, former member of the Racine Indoor Tennis Club and Ives Grove Retired Men’s Golf Association and one of the original members of the Kringleville Investment Club. Jim also had a special group for Sunday breakfast at River Run restaurant who were long time friends and neighbors.
Jim is survived by his children, Dr. Tom (Susie) Krummel of Los Altos Hills, CA, Bill Krummel of Racine, Dr. Steve Krummel (Rosemary) of Manitowoc, and Sue (Larry) Rothering of Muskego. Grandchildren: Katie Robinson (Eric), Maggie Parsell (Adam) and Allie Krummel, Quinn, Claire (fiancée Ryan Troullier), Killian Krummel, Paul (Christine) and Sam Rothering (girlfriend Chirissa Zirbel). He is also survived by great- grandchildren, Margaux Robinson, Brooks Parsell and Ellie Rothering along with Brother Robert Krummel of Kenosha, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Helen, an infant son, Thomas Krummel I, his sister in law Margaret Krummel, brother and sister in law George and Irene Hnilicka, brother and sister in law Bob and Dodie Briggs and sister in law Patricia Murray.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2201 Northwestern Ave.) on Friday, October 4, 2019 for a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The celebration of Jim’s life and memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Not only is Dr. Durbin a caring and kind physician plus a wonderful neighbor and friend. A heartfelt thank you as well to the staff at Timber Oaks Assisted Living and Oak Ridge Care Center for their wonderful care of Jim the last two months of his life.

Heartfelt condolences to the entire Krummel family. We were blessed to have Jim, Helen, and Bill as our next door neighbors for over 20 years. All 3 of them walked past our house nearly every day! We loved our conversations with Jim. He often complimented our yard and garden.
He was always curious about what we were doing and where we were going. Often he had been there or done that before and had a suggestion of what to look for or how to travel the most scenic path. His wit and wisdom always brought a smile. We continued to be amazed at his vast knowledge of any subject and his quick mind well into his 90’s. Bill was an excellent companion for him and the two of them could exercise circles around us! He was a delight in our lives and we are so grateful to have known him (and his darling girl Helen). What a Dad he must have been!! A special hug for Bill who has lost not only his Dad, but his best friend. You are in our thoughts and prayers daily!
