Racine- James “Jamie” Robert Abbott, age 37, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 10, 2013 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee with his family at his side following a courageous struggle with Pulmonary Hypertension due to a lifetime battle with his Diaphragmatic Hernia.
Jamie was born in Racine on September 9, 1975. A 1994 graduate of Washington Park High School, he went on to achieve his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from University of Wisconsin – Parkside. Following, he enjoyed his career as a well-respected customer service specialist at North Shore Bank in Kenosha.
Born with terminal diagnosis and not expected to live, Jamie was an inspiring warrior in the fight for his life – always a real “Trooper” – overcoming countless surgeries and procedures. Although his life on earth was shorter than most, he truly “lived” more than most anyone ever will…..always with his head held high. Above all, Jamie had a great appreciation for his family and cherished the times spent in their surroundings.
Surviving are his parents, Marlene and Dave Jensen; brother, Jason (Jamie) Abbott; step-sister, Theresa (Pat) Jordan; special niece – of whom is Jamie’s God-Daughter, Allison Lorraine Abbott; beloved grandmother, Alyce Gavin; many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, customers and friends – too numerous to mention by name.
Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Daniel T. Abbott; and grandparents, Clair Gavin, George and Margaret Jensen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 12:00 noon in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. In memory of Jamie, memorials to CHERUBS (the association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia research, awareness and support); or to PHA (Pulmonary Hypertension Association) have been suggested.
A special note of thanks to the Respiratory ICU at St. Luke’s Medical Center for the incredible care and support in Jamie’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

I only worked with you at NSB for a short while in 2004-2005, but you forever found a soft spot in my heart. Even as I moved to CA and then to MN, we still called eachother to say hi. I knew of your declining health, because you mentioned it briefly the last time we talked, but I had no idea how little time you had left. I wish I could’ve visited you one more time. Lots of love, JimmyJames. Love ya -“Becks”

So sorry to hear about Jamie’s passing. Not too long ago I was just talking about the summer camping trips to Jellystone and why it got started. Sending a prayer from Madison to Racine. Will be thinking of all of you.
