
Racine- Janet (nee: Booker) Cooper, 55, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center with her loving husband at her side, following a longtime struggle with congestive heart failure.
Janet was born in Memphis, TN on February 28, 1956, the daughter of Florida (nee: Prince) and Eddie Booker. She attended public schools in Racine, graduating from J.I. Case High School. On August 6, 1990, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Charles Cooper.
During her career, Janet had been employed by Warren Packaging. Among her interests, she had a great appreciation for the outdoors – especially while fishing. She loved spending time with her family – especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events; shopping; entertaining; listening to music; travelling with Charles; and was a phenomenal cook. Janet will be sadly missed and forever loved.
Janet leaves to cherish her precious memory- devoted husband, Charles; three loving daughters, Laquonda (Leroy McCambry) Fonder, Sharonda (Fred) Bass and Rolonda (Nathaniel Brown) Booker; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; mother, Florida Booker; sisters, Jeanette (Alfonzo) Johnson, Peggy (Alfred) Williams, Marilyn (Earl Barnes) Booker and Christine Booker; brothers, Robert (Peggy) Williams, Prince Williams, Antovia Booker and Jason (Lisha) Booker; brothers-in-law, Horace Cole, Ned (Olivia) Cooper, John (Jeanette) Cooper, Willie Cooper and Richard (Tina) Cooper; sister-in-law, Sara (James) Bradley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends too numerous to mention by name.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Booker; sister, Maxine Cole; mother-in-law, Maddie Mae Cooper; sister-in-law, Polly Cooper; and by other beloved family members.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 am in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street, with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am.
