Jason “JB” Barnes, 30, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. He was born in Elgin, IL on June 15, 1976, the son of Terry and Mildred (nee: Swift) Barnes. Jason attended J.I. Case High School and was a star quarterback from 1992 until 1994. He was the 1993 Racine County Player of the Year. Because of his skill and strategic plays on the football field, he was known as “Barnes Burner”. He lightening fast speed sent him on to State for track and field. Jason is survived by his only son Shemar L. Barnes, of Dyersburg, TN; his brother Terrance J. Barnes, who he cherished dearly; his loving grandparents, Homer and Catherine Swift all of Racine; his father and step-mother Terry and Monda Barnes, 1 step-brother and 2 step- sisters, all in Illinois; his loving nephew Terrion Barnes; 5 aunts, Gail R. Swift, Sylvia (Charles) Adams, Catherine C. Swift, all of Racine, Doris Wright and Pearl Wells, both in Illinois; his uncles, Daniel L. Swift and Frank L. Swift, both of Racine, Larry Barnes of Illinois, Edward P. Mitchell, Luther Mitchell James (Maybelle) Easley, and Joseph Easley, all of Racine. JB is also survived by his best friend Steve Adams, and a multitude of cousins that respected him, and looked up to him. He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred (Mil-Mil) and by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Jason was a member of Faith Church of God. He was greatly admired, and loved, by his family and friends. They know he is at peace and surrounded by the Angelic Love of his dear mother, whom we all miss dearly. His Homegoing Service, is will be held on in Faith Church of God, 1449 Geneva St., on Monday, August 7th, at 1:OO p.m., with Rev. Darryl Simmons officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Monday at the church, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
