Racine- Jennifer L. Hargrove, 27, passed away unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. A lifetime resident, Jennifer was born in Racine on August 18, 1981 to Frank Hargrove and Janice Johnson. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 2000. With a profound love for children, Jennifer went on to work for Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency – Headstart as a teaching assistant. She developed a love early on, for her community and the children within. She took great pride in teaching her students and watching them grow. When Jennifer’s student’s saw her out in public they would run up and hug her and say “ Mama it’s Ms. Jennifer!”. To all of her students; Ms. Jennifer will miss each and everyone of you. Jennifer was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed listening to her “loud” music and loved to sing, sing, sing. If you didn’t see Jennifer you could just follow the sound of the ridiculously loud music and there she was. The sound of her beautiful laugh and relentless singing will be missed immensely. Above all, she cherished being in the surroundings of all her family and friends. She made it a priority to make strong personal relationships with all of her loved ones. Fortunately not one of us has to wonder how much Jennifer loved us. Surviving are her mother, Janice (Willie “Farmer” Cobb) Johnson; father, Frank Hargrove; sister and lifelong friend, Jenetta “Nikki” Hargrove; aunts and uncles, Leonard C. Johnson, Jr., Edward Wesley Johnson, Allen Johnson, Sonya Y. Johnson, Virginia J. Johnson, Diane (Roy) Freeman, Debra M. Johnson, Darlene Renee (Ronald Bliss) Johnson, Jacqueline (Richard) Agesa, Ricky L. (Natalie) Muhammad and Ernest Jones; cousins, Marcia Lynn Johnson, Leonard C. Johnson III, Cymande B. Cannon, Brian(Ginnie) Johnson, Tonya (Ranera) Bingham, Norvel “Narvy” Watson, Kareha Agesa, Latonio (Kevia) Johnson, Aishah Muhammad, Rebecca Muhammad and Re’gine Torrance; special friend and “BFF”, Tif-Fanie Pearson; Special great uncle Hurley Johnson and a host of other dear cousins, relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lula (nee: Hicks) and Leonard C. Johnson, Sr.; and cousin, Keontay T. Watson. Right now we can all share in the comfort of witnessing Jennifer’s growth and new passion for life. We are all blessed and privileged to have seen her blossom into a curious, brave, confident woman. We find peace in having known such a beautiful daughter, sister, cousin, niece, teacher , and friend. But a longing in knowing that a life so dear to us was cut short. Jennifer offered us her love, support, and never fading brightness. She will be overwhelmingly missed. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Melvin Hargrove officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 pm. Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery on Monday. A heartfelt note of thanks to all who have so graciously supported us with visits, phone calls and prayers during this heart-breaking tragedy. May God bless all of you!

Jennifer you will be deeply missed. You were more like family than a friend. You went on all our family trips and dealt with our kids. You would give people your last dollar if they needed. Over the years you have truly growth. You use think everyone hated you, but now you see how many lives’ you have touched. I wish you could have been you longer. Like Tamesha said you always wanted a man, but now you are with the best man GOD.
