Racine- Jerome J. Orth, 71, passed away in Kenosha at the Kenosha Care Center on Sunday, November 19, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifetime resident, Jerry was born in Racine on September 14, 1935 to the late Jacob and Augusta (nee: Bickel) Orth. He graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary in 1953. Jerry went on to receive an Associates Degree in Industrial Engineering from Gateway Technical College. Jerry was employed for over 32 years as an Industrial Engineer at In-Sink-Erator, retiring in 1991. On May 6, 1972 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage with Margaret Jo “Marge” Jensen. They lovingly renewed their wedding vows on March 10, 1990 in St. Lucy Catholic Church. Jerry was a proud member of St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church where he was an active member of the choir. He was also a member of the ISE 10-Year and Management Clubs, and of the Industrial Engineering Society. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching sports, working on home projects and, of course, singing in the choir. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife, Marge; children, Deborah (Terry) Donini of Waukesha; Jeffery (Tina) Orth of St. Louis, MO; Ronald (Mauricio Jaramillo) Orth of Milwaukee; and Stephanie (Bill) Folk of Racine; grandchildren, Nicol and Evan Donini; Justin and Madelaine Orth; sisters, Mary Bauer of Montello, Martha Kraemer and Helen Evans, both of Racine; sister-in-law, Kristi Jensen of Wayzata, MN; brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Jensen of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his infant brother, George W. Orth; brothers, George and Edmund Orth; brothers-in-law, Paul Kraemer, Dick Evans and Robert Bauer; and by dear aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10 am at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Brian G. Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. In memory of Jerry, memorials to St. Richard Parish or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to Wheaton Franciscan-Dialysis East; Dr. Michael P. Mullane and his staff; and to the Kenosha Care Center for the compassionate care and support that was so warmly extended during Jerry’s battle with cancer. God bless all of you!
