Holy cow, just saw Jerry’s notice of passing. I was a poor kid who had moved from Florida to Rogers Park to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago and Jerry and his friends adopted me as one their. I was always struck by Jerry’s sense of quirky humor, intellect and willingness to offer his advice. While I only knew Jerry for less than a year, he made a lasting impression on this Florida kid, and a friend who I wish I still had today.
