Jessica Lynn Taskonis, beloved daughter, sister, and mother, age 52, of Racine, WI, passed away unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on November 28, 2024, leaving a huge void in her family. She was born in Racine on March 7, 1972 to William and Ruth (nee: Ballewske) Schmidt. Jessica attended Burlington High School before graduating with her Bachelor of Science Degree from Herzing University. She was employed by Ascension All Saints Healthcare as a Manager of Employer Solutions.
In 2019, Jessica was diagnosed with breast cancer. In true Jessica form, she fought the good fight to beat cancer. In celebration, she gifted herself a Mazda Miata MX-5 which fulfilled her “need for speed” and renewed zest for life.
Jessica became a devoted mother to Taylor in 2004. Taylor was her pride and joy. She always said, “Taylor’s birth changed my life for the better.” Taylor has always felt her mother’s love and support. Jessica took special joy in having many adventures with Taylor, traveling, hanging out with her friends and creating memories that last a lifetime.
Throughout her life, family and friends were very important to Jessica. She openly shared her love and zeal for life with all those around her. She will be missed by many.
Surviving are her daughter, Taylor; father, William (Lenora) Schmidt; mother, Ruth (Lane) Donahue; sisters, Nicole (Jeremiah) Curtis and Monica (Mike) Cucciare; nephews and nieces, Logan and Adysson Curtis, Elaina and Nico Cucciare; Taylor’s father, Matt Taskonis; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will never forget the love Jessica brought to their lives. Jessica worked with me for many years at Wheaton/Ascension and was not only an excellent manager but more importantly a wonderful person and friend. I am devastated that she is no longer with us but know she is happy and healthy in Heaven waiting for us all. She had a passion for work and life and was a role model to many. My prayers for Taylor and the rest of the family…

Jessica was not only my former boss but also my friend. I worked with her for about 20 years at Ascension. She was truly the most dedicated, knowledgeable, and hardest worker I ever knew. She was always my “go to” person with any questions I had. She could always answer them. Taylor, I know you don’t remember me, but know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
