John was a wonderful Uncle and I have great memories of the joy he had while playing with me and my sisters, and cousins when we were young. He always would be the first one up to play in the yard or give us wagon rides and the last one to stop. He was a fantastic artist and I enjoyed his cards the most at holidays because of the drawings. One of my favorite pictures is from my first communion with him and I standing next to his Harley. It has been years since I have seen him but I will miss the light he brought to every occasion. Deepest sympathies to my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins on this tragic loss. My thoughts are prayers are with you all.

Lauren Allar says
He always called me “Lauren Joy” and impressed me with his ability to remember dates (particularly birthdays). The last memory I have of my uncle is Christmas 2012 at my grandparents’ house. He met my sister, Caitlin, for the first time that night and the 3 of us talked for a long time. I know my uncle struggled with many things throughout his life, but he meant well. I wish I would have had more time to get to know him, but the limited time I had with him was precious. I am deeply saddened that I cannot be with my family for the funeral but you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I love all of you, and despite the manner in which John’s death occurred, I know in my heart that his suffering is over. RIP Uncle Johnny, I’ll try to remember that long list of birthdays. 🙂

I am borrowing something someone told my brother at the funeral, John did not take his life, his illness did.

I’m at a loss for words, nothing I could say would ease the pain you must be feeling. I can only remember what an important part John and the rest of your family played in making my growing up years idyllic. You are all like family to me and I feel your pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. – Jonn Nuter

To John’s parents and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember John’s quick and sincere smile as my friend, neighbor and classmate. Seven years ago at my uncle’s funeral, John gave me the best and biggest hug. He conveyed his sympathies in such a meaningful way that I still recall his smile and friendship.
