John Joseph Conway, age 82, passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke, surrounded by his family.
John was born in St. Paul, MN on June 5, 1933 to the late Francis and Julia (Moore) Conway. He married Rita Mae Husnik, the love of his life, on June 11, 1955. This union blessed them with 6 children whom he cherished.
John worked as a chemist for S.C. Johnson & Sons, and enjoyed a wonderful relationship with his coworkers. John loved his church, his family, and Hawaii.
John will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted children: AnnMarie (Nelson) Conway (of Racine), JoEllen (Larry) DeBoer (of Grand Prairie, TX), Nora Conway-Vazquez (of Aurora, IL), Michael Barbieri (Corrine) (of Fort Worth, TX), Thomas (Stacy) Conway (of Milwaukee, WI), and Susan Conway (of Racine); grandchildren: Jonathan (Cherie) Nelson, David (Aubrey Lovegrove) Nelson, Amanda DeBoer, Jeffrey Nelson, John Barbieri, Alyssa (Raymond) Bates, Meaghan Vazquez, Daniel Barbieri, Alena DeBoer, Lauren Barbieri, Matthew Conway; and one great granddaughter: Addison Bates. He is also survived by his beloved sister Joan Eggenberger, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, his wife Rita Conway, and his daughter Corrine Conway Barbieri.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring St. Racine) on Wednesday, July 1 for a visitation from 5-7 pm. The celebration of his life and funeral Mass will take place at St. Paul the Apostle on Thursday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. There will also be a visitation in the church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint Theresa, Kihei, Maui food program, Hale Kau Kau, feeding with compassion and Aloha (saint-theresa.com), or the Rita Mae Conway Memorial Fund at the UWM Foundation, Inc. John’s family would like to give special thanks to all his health care providers, particularly Dr. James Tierney for his more than 30 years of loving care, and to those who showed love and support to our family during this difficult time.
