STURTEVANT (FORMERLY OF DAVENPORT, IA) – Mr. John J. Killeen, Sr., 65, passed away unexpectedly at WFH – All Saints on Friday, June 3, 2016.
He was born in Davenport, IA on December 21, 1950, the son of the late Warren and Margaret Mary (nee: Coughlin) Killeen.
John graduated from the University of Texas. He proudly defended his nation with the US Navy for 24 years, serving in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm.
John had broad interests and a vast depth of knowledge. He enjoyed reading American presidential history and collecting coins. John especially enjoyed his time in the company of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, John (Amanda) Killeen, Jr.; his grandchildren, Joey and Ashley Killeen all of Racine; his brother Patrick Killeen and his niece and nephew, Ryan and Melanie Killeen all of Davenport, IA. John was also preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Killeen.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 for a visitation from 4-6 p.m. A service celebrating and honoring his life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. David Pagel officiating. A private interment with military honors will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.

John, JJ or sometimes “Killer” was the one who got me interested in the Navy. I met him at Howard Payne. College. He made it seem so glamorous and fun. Sure enough …the impression he left on me made me join the Navy and I too made a career of it. I think of you often my friend and Brother. May God’s light shine upon you. Rest easy…We have the Watch.
