Her funeral Service will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26th, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Robert McDermott officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Private entombment will take place in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute Macular Degeneration Research or the Kenosha Garden Club. Please see our website for the complete obituary. In accordance with Racine County mandate, only 50 people will be allowed to enter the funeral home at a time. You may be required to wait outside until others leave the building. For the safety and security of our guests we also require those in attendance to wear a face covering. Joyce L. Tenuta, 95, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020, with her devoted husband, Ernie, and her loving family at her side. She was born in Forest City, Iowa on July 29, 1924 the daughter of the late Vernon and Muriel (nee: Dennett) Sonquist.
Joyce was employed as an Assistant Liberian at Gateway Technical College for over 20 years. On November 3, 1944, in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Ernest Tenuta. Joyce was a member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, she was a longtime member of the Kenosha Garden Club, and a master gardener. Joyce loved being in the kitchen cooking up her favorite recipes from tapioca pudding to her famous lasagna. She loved the times spent with her children and grandchildren. Joyce also enjoyed playing golf, with her husband, at the Kenosha Country Club. The Tenutas enjoyed traveling whenever they could, traveling to many places including Italy,France, and England. They spent many winters in California with their daughter Kathy and her family as well as Florida with friends.
Surviving are her husband, Ernie; their son, Jeff Tenuta, both of Kenosha; son-in-law, Bill Rasmus MD, of Santa Monica, CA; grandchildren, Jackie Tenuta, Christopher and Cody Rasmus; brother-in-law, Emil Tenuta; sister-in-law, Carmella Rende, her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen T. Rasmus MD; son James E. Tenuta; daughter-in-law, Karen Tenuta; brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Frances Sonquist. The Tenutas would like to thank her Doctors Mehjabein Khan and Janet Chua; as well as Julie LaMacchia and her wonderful staff at Caring Solutions for their wonderful care throughout the last several years.

Joyce were classmates in the very first Library Technical Assistant class at Gateway (then called Kenosha Technical Institute). She pushed me to work hard in that class. Like her, I worked in libraries after graduation..
