Service Details
His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11:00 a.m. in JAM Church (Jesus Alive Ministries) 3011 Erie St. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

Junior “Slick” Townsend, 83, of Racine, passed away at Ascension-All Saints, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He was born in Lee County, MS on January 8,1942, the son of the late Fred and Emma (nee: Woods) Townsend.
On April 22, 1976, he was united in marriage to Laura (Flora) Lee Jones, she preceded him in death on June 28, 2016. He had been employed by Racine Steel for over 20 years.
Junior was a member of JAM Church (Jesus Alive Ministries). He was a self- taught mechanic and could fix anything. He was the original independent scrap and metal contractor.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cherel (Frederick) Hyatt, and Alisa (Pastor Randy) Cameron, all of Racine; two sons, Tony Jones, of Racine, and Douglas (Annie) Fitzpatrick, of Belden, MS, numerous grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, five sisters, Edith Garnder, of Houlka, MS, Lady D Townsend, Juanita (Thomas) Flanagan, and Erie Oakley, all of Racine, and Linda Fay Gibson, of Lawton, OK. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive him. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Junior was preceded in death by his son Robert Darnell Brumby and his brother, Lealon Townsend.
