Racine – Katherine M. Richards, 41, passed away unexpectedly in Waupaca on Sunday, March 16, 2008. She was born in Two Rivers on February 28, 1967, and had been a Racine area resident since 1992. Katherine will be remembered most for her thoughtful and attentive ways, and the manner in which she cared for those she loved. She enjoyed cooking, and decorating the home that she shared with her children and her fiancé, Jeff. Katherine worked alongside Jeff at Ventura Carpentry, where her organizational skills and business sense was a valued asset. She also liked spending lazy weekends at the cabin in Waupaca, boating and just spending time with her children and stepchildren, who meant the world to her, and loved being with her dogs. She is survived by her children, Stefan Ford and Kenzie Ford; and fiancé, Jeff Ventura and his children, Ryan and Dustin all of Racine; her father, Daniel Richards of Two Rivers; brothers, Chris Richards of Honolulu, Hawaii, John Richards, and Dave (Kelly) Richards both of Shawano; grandmother, Clara Post of Shawano; as well as her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her mother, Charlotte (nee: Post) Jahnke. Complete funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 12 noon on Saturday, March 22, 2008 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. All are invited to visit with Katherine’s family beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the children have been suggested.

Kenzie and Stefan, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Your mom was a wonderful person and I am so glad to have known her and have spent time with her through all the club volleyball seasons. She was a blast to be around and was a very caring person. Even though we didn’t see each other much since there wasn’t any v-ball, I still considered her a friend and could’ve picked up like there was no time lost. I will be praying for you. I’m sure your mom is in heaven and will be watching over you. God will help you through this, just ask Him.

I had the pleasure of knowing Kathy thru working together. My heart is heavy knowing that she has left us. Kathy was a very delightful person with a smile that could light up a room. Her laugh was contagious. I know she will be deeply missed. May God’s love and peace with her children.

Stef, Kenz, Jeff, Ryan, & Dino-
How do I put into words the loss of someone SO SPECIAL TO US? It doesn’t seem fair, but it’s the realization of life that’s for certain. How suddenly someone so precious can be taken from us! I do know she’d want us to remember the GOOD times, not this sudden tragedy. Even though that’s SO difficult right now…You’re all in my thoughts & prayers. Love, (“Auntie”) Barb

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the friends and family of Kathy.
Though I did not know her personally, (she recently had rented a condo in Maui from me), I was touched by how excited she was to be visiting Maui with Jeff next month. She truly seemed like a delightful person. Again, my condolences to you all.
