Racine – Kellie Yvonne McNeil, age 36, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
A pretty girl with a pretty smile is how her cousin described her – so succinct, so true! Kellie Yvonne McNeil was born on March 31,1983 in Racine, WI to Jocelyn and Jerry McNeil, Sr. Kellie grew up in Racine and had a love of sports both as a spectator and participant. Kellie played both baseball and basketball. However, her greatest passion was basketball. She continued playing basketball throughout high school and earned a Varsity letter for her hard work and dedication. Kellie also spent a great portion of her childhood participating in youth ministry at Greater Grace Temple, C.O.G.I.C. She particularly loved being a part of Vision of Hope praise dance team. Kellie ministered with passion and conviction, learned valuable lessons, and built friendships that would last a lifetime.
Kellie graduated from J. I. Case High School in 2001 and went on to study at the University of Wisconsin -Whitewater. She received her BBA in Information Technology Infrastructure in 2006. Two years later, she earned a Masters Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, again from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater.
While at Whitewater, Kellie pledged Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Epsilon Omega Chapter. As a legacy, she followed in her mother’s footsteps yet left her own impression. After college, she became an active member of the Gamma Pi Sigma graduate chapter. Kellie thoroughly enjoyed this sisterhood.
Kellie began her professional career at Cardinal Health and worked continuously to hone her skills and build relationships during her 11 year tenure. Kellie’s last role for Cardinal Health was as Area Manager for Environmental Health and Safety.
A member of Christian Faith Fellowship Waukegan for eleven years, Kellie was a dedicated member of the usher’s board and served as the board’s co-chairperson. Kellie could be regularly found at her post with a warm smile and a welcoming spirit. Utilizing her expertise in health and safety, Kellie also served as a member of Christian Faith Fellowship’s Emergency Evacuation team.
Born out of her childhood love of sports, Kellie’s competitive nature continued into adulthood. Although an injury ended her softball playing, Kellie remained a competitive pool player. When invited, or challenged to a game of pool, Kellie would excuse herself long enough to retrieve her pool cue which she always travelled with. After that, it was game on!
If to travel is to live, then Kellie lived indeed. She loved to travel at home and abroad. Her enthusiasm for experiencing new places spread among her family and friends. Each year they would find a place to explore together with lots of love and laughter.
Kellie McNeil transitioned from this life on November 19, 2019. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sallie M. Jackson, paternal grandmother Augusta McNeil, paternal grandfather Curtis McNeil, and brother Jerry McNeil Jr.
God lent us this angel for so long we thought she was ours to keep. He called her to eternal rest and we’re left behind to weep. Kellie leaves to mourn her passing: her Father Jerry McNeil, Mother Jocelyn McNeil, Godparents Johnny and Lynda Jackson, Siblings Karen McNeil (Racine, WI), April Young (Las Vegas, NV), Melinda Weaver (Racine, WI), Carolyn McNeil-Griffin (Racine, WI), Phillip McNeil (Memphis, TN), a host of Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.
A Celebration of Kellie’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019, 10:00am at Greater Grace Temple COGIC, 522 N. Memorial Dr., Racine, WI. Visitation will be at the Church from 9:00am until the time of service. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.

I wish to extend my sympathies to Kellie’s family. I am still so shocked and saddened by her death. I worked with Kellie for many years and had the opportunity to travel with her on several occasions. She was bright, dedicated and committed to her work. She had high expectations for herself and for everyone around her. I believe that made us all better. It surely made the operations she supported safer for our employees. People who didn’t know her well might say she was a serious person… and she was. But she could also be wickedly funny. I’ll miss our frequent chats about work and life. May God comfort her family and all of us who will miss her.
