Lawrence L. Waters, 58, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at All Saints Hospital. He was born in Meridian, Mississippi on March 18, 1955, son of the late Maggie Kelley and Elijah Waters. He was a Racine resident for most of his life, and graduated from Park High School. Lawrence was a former employee of Walker Mfg., but his passion was music. He belonged to several local bands, and enjoyed performing at The Oasis with “A Piece of the Action.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, JoElla Waters, his daughters Kandice Waters, Lauren Waters, and Cherise First; grandchildren Dawayne, Javon, Davon, Jamaya, and Dazaria; sisters Lula McLain and Annie Ruth Waters; brothers Bobby Charles Waters and Edward Daniel (Brenda) Kelley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother James Earl Waters, and brother-in-law Joe McLain.
Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Greater St. Luke Baptist Church (1326 State Street) with Pastor Joe Pipes officiating. Interment at Graceland cemetery will be private. Visitation will begin in the church at 9:30 a.m. Memorials to the family have been suggested.
